What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Project Designer position at Moody Nolan?
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the production of conceptual and schematic level drawings, renderings, and diagrams under the direction of a more experienced designer to increase independence over time.
- Direct development of innovative design concepts with project teams to produce constructable solutions.
- Responsible for exterior material research and selections, and construction detailing to maintain design intent throughout the design process.
- Responsible for client-facing and internal presentations.
- Perform early programming and loading capacity studies.
- Interface and collaborate with interior designers and landscape designers for cohesive overall designs
- Work with internal and external visualization designers to produce best-in-class renderings and animations
- Help in the production of quality design awards, both locally and nationally.
- Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, or related field (required)
- Professional Degree and/or Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, or related field (preferred)
- Proficient in Rhino, SketchUp, Test Fit, and other 3D modelling software
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD a plus
- Eventually, licensure will be expected
- 3-5 years of professional experience
- A strong portfolio highlighting student work and any professional experience, if relevant
- A strong ability to multitask and pivot quickly between projects
- A strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
- Strong sketching skills a plus
- LEED or WELL accreditation is a plus
- Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects during the early stages, as well as assisting with Construction Management towards the end.
