The General Manager provides administrative support to the President/CEO, including but not limited to: planning, research, communications, personnel, record-keeping, Hotel Management, and bookkeeping. He or she oversees the quality process of the Hotel to ensure customer satisfaction by consistent delivery of product quality and service. The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

  • Review and update company personnel policies and procedures; ensuring that personnel practices are in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and statutes; and assist with notifying supervisor of appropriate personnel action
  • Manage all Hotel property which includes understanding Hotel and grants regulations relating to hotel property management as well as assists in preparing all required inventory reports
  • Assist in the analysis of financial impacts of risks on the company within authority, selecting appropriate techniques to minimize losses such as declination, retention or grouping of exposure units
  • Review insurance and bonding services circulation and bulletins to keep current on changes in the industry and places, prices and reviews reinsurance as required
  • Assist in the preparation of all Hotel administration budgets
  • Assist in the oversight of statements on a monthly or on an as-need basis
  • Assist in the oversight of receiving and recording of all incoming assets
  • Assist in the planning, directing, and coordinating of risk and insurance programs
  • Prepare and submit various management reports
  • Interview, hire and counsel department Management in the efficient operation of their respective areas
  • Develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency in each department and reviews performance

 

  • Maintain files of company forms, correspondence, grants and legal documents
  • Periodically review and update all manuals and procedural documents
  • Frequent contacts with employees from top management to all front-line employees, community leaders and business representatives.
  • Maintain AAA and 4 D STATUS
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus four years of high-level management experience or equivalent in the Hotel Business, Public Administration, Business Administration or any other related field
  • Experience in all phases of hotel management, including Administration, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Food and Beverage, Budget Management, Rooms, Housekeeping, Resort Maintenance, Landscaping and Operational Activities
  • Specialized training or exposure in organization planning, compensation and preventative labor relations
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan, and be well organized
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and work well under pressure
  • Must be able to take initiative on problems and be flexible and cooperative
  • The individual must also be accurate, timely, and discrete
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend and lift for continuous periods of time

Salary : $135,000 - $145,000
