JOB SUMMARY:
The Hotel Revenue Intern
will be responsible for:
Assisting the revenue manager in creating accurate weekly information and documents for the Revenue Optimization Committee as it pertains to:
- Group versus Leisure displacement reporting: Maintain a daily rate displacement spreadsheet and review, verify and present to RM weekly/monthly for review and forward learning of the ROC.
- Assist during high call volume, assist Group Rooms Controller when group needs dictate, and Reservations manager.
- 30-60-90- rate strategies prepared and submitted to the RM for review prior to ROC meeting.
- Reporting to the Revenue Manager for market demand and extracting need dates for review in ROC.
- Compiling and creating the Executive Summary of the weekly and monthly STR Report in preparation of the RMs notes for the past performance and “Grade”
- Attend ROC meeting weekly and be prepared to offer insight as requested
- The RC will also assist in monitoring daily BAR as it pertains and dictates 3rd party and OTA rate structures up to 90 days out.
- Coordinate with Res Manager for weekly recap of agents weekly goal and assist those not achieving-pace for the week/month with new ways to sell.
- Be involved and knowledgeable of the sales process attending Sales Meeting, making recommendations in the absence of the RM and in enforcing group ceilings to positive rate displacement
- Train to be an advanced Maestro User (property management system).
- Create and maintain hotel packages.
Summary of essential job duties
- Daily revenue analytics
- Answer incoming phone calls in a timely manner/assist reservations team during times of high call volume
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all room types, rates, packages, and booking procedures
- Maintain current knowledge of all daily activities and annual events
- Handle daily correspondence in a timely manner; respond to all inquires
- Coordinate with other departments to maximize sales and guest experience
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Will Cross Train in Hotel Reservations Department
- Handle individual phone reservations
- Greet prospective guests in a friendly manner using clear, verbal communication
- Input and retrieve dates using knowledge of the computer reservations system
- Assign reservations based on guest preferences and availability
- Provide accurate and prompt information regarding availability
- Assist Reservation Manager on any project needed
- Handle complaints in a tactful manner and negotiate resolutions
- Answer questions regarding hotel facilities and services, local attractions, directions, etc.
- Send confirmation and hotel information packets upon guest requests
- Even out room types as needed
- Charge 48 hour deposits in a timely manner
- Accept and review third party reservations
- Follow the reservations department checklist
- Cross sell the Moody Gardens Attractions and the Moody Gardens Golf Course

Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perfect Attendance
- Property Management System Experience is a plus, not required
- Proficient knowledge and capabilities of using Microsoft Excel and Word, Google and Google Docs, digital platforms and more.
- Knowledge of revenue management principles to include, demand, analytics, sell out strategy etc.
- Capable of handling multiple computer programs while simultaneously answering questions, and processing reservations for prospective guests
- Enjoy working in a team environment, Excellent customer service skills
- Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Full-time : all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as need
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Obtaining a degree in Hotel Hospitality Management
- Call center experience preferred

- Multitasking skills preferred
- Individual should be well organized, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, work well under pressure, and utilize a friendly and courteous manner
