Hotel Bell Staff/Valet

JOB SUMMARY:

The Bell person is responsible for assisting guests with luggage, valet, and minor concierge assistance.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Retrieve guest items from cars, busses, and carts
• Grasp lift, carry and load luggage and packages onto a bell cart to transport items throughout hotel to designated room
• Read and match luggage tags, write claim tickets and detach portion to give to guest
• Valet guest cars, walk around vehicles for inspection of any damage before parking in the designated area for valet in the hotel underground garage.
• Organize and store luggage as necessary in designated areas
• Instruct guests on how to use television, and how to use the AC and all other amenities in the room.
• Escort customers to accommodations, visually inspect room and telephone any deficiencies such as towels to housekeeping immediately
• Supply guest with ice before leaving the room
• Must be at least 21 years of age for the valet position
• Bell-staff must be at least 17 years of age
• Knowledgeable of all hotel and park operating hours
• Perform all duties timely and promptly while maintain upmost customer service to ensure guest satisfaction

• Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma preferred
• Must have a valid Texas Driver license with a clean record for the valet position

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must be reliable and responsible
• Ability to understand and follow written and or verbal instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to deal with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
• Sufficient manual dexterity in one hand to be able to load and unload luggage
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances on property
