What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cafe Park Host/Cashier position at Moody Gardens, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Cashier/Host will accurately collect payments and make change to close out guest checks totaling food and beverage purchases in a friendly and courteous manner. Also seats guests at tables in order of arrival.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
Qualifications:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive and visually inspects guest checks for any inaccuracies, then closes the check to the proper method of payment
- Ascertain guest satisfaction, and in the event of dissatisfaction, tactfully negotiates accommodation
- Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total certification, tip disbursement, cash drawer, and house bank management
- Balance house bank at the end of the shift
- Receive all guests entering the restaurant, and seat them in the appropriate server’s section
- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere with health standards
- Assisting in placing “to-go” orders
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma preferred
- Prior hospitality and cashiering experience preferred
- Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Basic math skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing
- Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check total
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently enough to understand menus, special promotions, and communicate with guests
- Ability to operate a keyboard and a POS system
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to remain on feet throughout the shift
- Ability to work continually in a confined space
