Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical knowledge base, proficiency with hand tools and power tools, and the ability to work on various types of vehicles, including trucks, excavators, and farm machinery. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of vehicle components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues and report findings to the supervisor.
- Experience with diagnosing and repairing electrical issues in diesel vehicles.
- Conduct basic inspections and report issues to senior mechanics.
- Assist with brake and tire maintenance, coolant checks, and fluid replacements.
- Learn to use diagnostic tools and software.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
- Conduct brake maintenance, tire and wheel replacements, and electrical system repairs.
- Replace vehicle components and perform lubrication services.
- Assist in cooling system maintenance and conduct road tests to confirm repairs.
- Diagnose and repair clutches, PTO systems, electric systems, hydraulic/air brake systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair heating/air conditioning systems, instruments, and gauges.
- Conduct major repairs, including engine, transmission, and suspension work.
- Diagnose and repair engines (gas and diesel), electrical, brake, and cooling systems.
- Service transmissions (manual and automatic), differentials, PTO systems, and power steering systems.
- Overhaul and rebuild engine components, starters, alternators, and fan clutches.
- Perform AC system repairs and refrigeration system maintenance.
- Lead complex diagnostic and repair projects with minimal supervision.
- May work in workshops, outdoor construction sites and would need to be mobile.
- Ensure all repairs comply with DOT and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in diesel repair and fleet maintenance.
- Knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, electrical systems, and powertrains a must
- Must possess a valid driver's license; CDL Class A preferred.
- Ability to work independently and make critical repair decisions.
- Have good communication ability.
