About the Position
Monument Staffing Solutions is seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Child Care Substitute Teachers to support licensed child care centers and family child care homes throughout Western Colorado.
As a substitute, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while stepping into classrooms and programs as needed. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, value flexibility, and are passionate about supporting early childhood education.
Substitutes play an important role in maintaining high-quality care and ensuring programs remain compliant with all Colorado child care licensing regulations and best practices.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have experience working with children (licensed child care experience preferred)
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and flexibility
- Be able to work in a variety of child care settings
Preferred qualifications include:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework or credentials
- Experience in licensed child care centers or family home programs
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
Required Trainings
Prior to working, substitutes must complete all required Colorado PDIS and licensing trainings, including:
- Safe Sleep
- Shaken Baby Syndrome / Abusive Head Trauma Prevention
- Standard Precautions & Infection Control
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Playground Safety
- Injury Prevention
- Child Development Training
- Social Emotional Development Training
Substitutes are also required to complete ongoing annual professional development in accordance with Colorado licensing requirements.
Responsibilities- Child Supervision & Safety
- Provide active supervision of children at all times
- Maintain appropriate child-to-staff ratios
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Follow emergency and safety procedures
- Conduct regular headcounts and safety checks
Classroom & Program Support
- Assist with classroom routines and activities
- Support developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Help with meals, snacks, diapering, and toileting as needed
- Encourage positive play, learning, and social interactions
Positive Guidance
- Use nurturing and respectful behavior guidance techniques
- Support children’s emotional and social development
- Utilize redirection and positive reinforcement strategies
- Follow individualized support plans when applicable
Professionalism & Compliance
- Follow all Monument Staffing Solutions policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and programs
- Arrive on time and prepared for assigned shifts
- Maintain all required trainings and certifications
- Comply with all Colorado child care licensing regulations
Schedule
- Flexible, on-call scheduling
- Shifts may vary based on program needs
