The district’s boundaries extend from the Rampart Range/Palmer Lake to the west, the Air Force Academy/Baptist/Hodgen Roads to the south, Black Forest Road to the east, and County Line Road to the north, with additional mutual aid support to the United States Forest Service in the Mount Herman area. Operating at an average elevation of 7,100 feet, MFD provides 24/7/365 response with a primary focus on minimizing loss of life and property. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic role located in Colorado Springs, CO. Team members respond to fire, rescue, and emergency medical incidents, providing patient assessment, basic or advanced life support care, and safe transport in accordance with established protocols. Daily responsibilities include operating firefighting and EMS equipment, performing fire suppression, ventilation, salvage, and overhaul, and conducting technical rescue operations as trained. The role also involves routine apparatus and equipment checks, station maintenance, training drills, physical conditioning, and participation in community education and outreach activities. Firefighters are expected to follow all safety procedures, work effectively within an inclusive team environment, and maintain readiness for 24/7 emergency response on an assigned shift schedule.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident, or can legally work in the United States by the time of application.
- Possess a valid driver's license (must obtain a valid CO driver's license within three (3) months of hire).
- State of Colorado EMT or National Registry EMT with the ability to obtain State of Colorado EMT.
- Current BLS level CPR card (AHA, HIS, or Red Cross accepted).
- Current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certificate dated August 13, 2025 – August 14, 2026.
