A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Project Osteologist (Project Archeologist) position is remote in Southern California, with as needed travel to project sites.

As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including :

  • Provide as needed osteology support, via email / phone with potential for on-site verification as needed
  • Maintaining project files.
  • Maintaining knowledge of regulatory standards in environmental technical areas.
  • Interacting with customers and clients.
  • Working effectively, both independently and in a team setting.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercising safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Minimum of a Masters degree in osteology
  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience as an osteologist
  • Experience identifying remains both by photographs and in the field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and ability to use related computer systems and software
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local legislation affecting human remains
  • Ability to work remotely and independently with minimal supervision / direction
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • While performing office tasks for the job, the employee may be required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, and is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel. There may be occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from the floor of supplies and materials weighing no more than 30 pounds. The work may involve some bending, standing, or walking. Out of office site visits could potentially have more strenuous physical demands
  • Work environment will vary greatly depending on nature of assigned tasks
  • Possible work environments could include normal office working conditions in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential
  • The position may involve travel as needed
