MONTOUR TOWNSHIP SECRETARIAL/CLERK DUTIES
The Township Secretary and Clerk are the backbone of the township and need to
take their jobs seriously. They are the faces who greet the public and need to
have good communication skills as well as organizational skills. The office is the
hub of the township and these positions require dedication, dependability and
accuracy.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Attend all regular and special meetings of the Board of Supervisors.
- Give required notice and prepare an agenda for all the meetings of the Board of Supervisors.
- Keep record of proceedings of all the public meetings of the Board of Supervisors in the official Minute Book as required by the Second Class Township Code.
- Provide required notice of adoption of all Township ordinances and keep copy of the adopted ordinances in the Township’s official Ordinance Book as required by the Second Class Township Code.
- Maintain the township seal for safe keeping and proper use.
- Maintain a file of the oath of office of all persons elected or appointed to any township office.
- Oversee proper record keeping and files of the township.
- Attend and participate in any trainings, seminars or webinars to help keep abreast of new developments in local government.
- Handles advertising for any meetings, hearings, etc.
- Enter and pay bills.
- Prepare for annual audit.
- Reconcile bank accounts each month.
- Gather and respond to correspondence.
- Make sure all taxes are taken care of in a timely fashion.
- Make deposits of all incoming assets.
- Process and record sewer deposits.
- Process and complete all governmental forms.
- Keep office and cleaning supplies stocked for Office, Police and Shed.
- Check and respond to daily emails.
- Check balances on a daily basis for all township accounts.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
