Job Overview

Choir Teacher Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement a choral curriculum that meets Arkansas educational standards.
- Teach vocal techniques and music theory to students of varying skill levels.
- Select and arrange music repertoire for choir performances.
- Prepare students for concerts, competitions, and other public performances.
- Conduct regular rehearsals to enhance students' musical abilities and ensemble cohesion.
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Organize and manage choir-related activities such as auditions, concerts, and competitions, and fundraisers.
- Collaborate with other music teachers, school staff, and community members.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee
Choir Teacher Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or Choral Conducting.
- State teaching certification or licensure
- Previous experience teaching choir at the middle or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of vocal techniques and choral literature.
- Proficiency in playing piano or other accompanying instruments.
- Experience in organizing and directing choir performances and events.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all backgrounds and skill levels.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting musical scores.
- Experience working with vocal ensembles or choirs.
- Strong conducting skills and knowledge of vocal pedagogy.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
