What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Attorney position at Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program?
The Montgomery Volunteer Lawyer’s Program (MVLP), a grant-funded 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been providing pro bono civil legal aid in Montgomery County, Alabama since April 2013. The MVLP handles thousands of cases for previously unrepresented defendants including but not limited to probate, evictions, debt collections, wage garnishments, land and property, torts, and other civil matters free of charge to qualified individuals.
The MVLP is seeking a motivated and compassionate Staff Attorney to join our team full time and participate in programs like our Lawyer for a Day and Legal Advice Clinics. This is a tremendous opportunity to get consistent, diverse, and immersive litigation experience surrounded by other passionate and dedicated attorneys, as well as a chance to provide an essential service to the community of Montgomery County.
This position is ideal for a young lawyer looking to gain vital experience in litigation and law office work in their first years of practice.
The salary for this position is $55,000 annually including employer-paid health insurance. Employees get all state holidays off, as well as the opportunity for PTO.
