Human Resources Clerk Qualifications 1. High School Diploma or GED required. 2. Two (2) years office experience preferred. 3. Valid Alabama driver’s license. 4. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457 5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable. FLSA Status Non-exempt Supervisor Director of Human Resources Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Skills in administrative details. 2. Ability to keep business matters confidential. 3. Ability to type 40 words per minute. 4. Proficiency in technology programs such as Word, Excel, Access,Printshop, Google, Publisher, Adobe, etc. 5. Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail and other electronic communications. 6. Ability to deal with people in a pleasant, courteous manner. 7. Ability to use excellent business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation. 8. Ability to organize materials and maintain accurate records. 9. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others. 10. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to work and move about as needed in a fastpaced, highly intensive work environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Assists the Human Resources Staff (HR Assistant, HR Generalist, HR Director, and Benefits Coordinator) with their duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Human Resources and Director of Human Resources. 2. Prepares the letters regarding personnel action by the Board of Education. 3. Serves as the receptionist for the Human Resources Department and is the first response on all telephone calls. 4. Provides all verbal and written employment verifications. 5. Completes unemployment information. 6. Files personnel documents as directed by the Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations and/or Human Resources Director. 7. Ensures applications are complete for certified, support, and administrative employees 8. Reviews applications for criminal history and notifies the Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations and Director of Human Resources of any potential convictions and/or related matters. 9. Assists the Human Resources Staff all employment information. Maintains and disseminates appropriate information for the hiring of all contractors, tutors, extended day and other temporary/special employment. 10. Faxes, ponies, mails, copies and files as directed by the Executive Director of Human 11. Opens mail for the Human Resources Department and distributes in an efficient and effective manner. 12. Processes expense reimbursement forms and invoices. 13. Operates the McAleer Personnel System in an efficient, up-to-date, and effective manner. 14. Serve as backup to Kelly Service Representative and assists with processing invoices. 15. Maintains confidentiality of HR materials and information. 16. Assists the Human Resources Staff with new hire information. 17. Prepares and disseminates new hire letters and notifications and other Human Resources correspondence. 18. Assists the Human Resources Staff with recruitment and retention of employees as well as all special events, including, but not limited to, New Teacher Orientation and Prospective Teacher Fair. 19. Prepares memorandums, letters and other related correspondences for the Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations. 20. Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district’s absence management system in a timely manner. 21. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy Manual, Students First Act and the Board's Salary Schedule - Central Office Administrative Support. EVALUATION Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
