Role Description The Transportation Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based in Montgomery, TX, supporting the daily operations of the district’s transportation department. This role includes maintaining accurate records of routes, schedules, and student ridership, as well as updating transportation databases and filing documentation in a timely manner. The Transportation Clerk responds to phone calls and emails from families, drivers, campus staff, and vendors, providing clear information and routing inquiries to the appropriate team members. Daily responsibilities include processing purchase orders, tracking inventory and supplies for buses and facilities, and coordinating with vendors regarding deliveries and services. The Transportation Clerk also assists with preparing reports, supporting compliance with district and state regulations, and performing general administrative tasks to ensure efficient and safe transportation services.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication with families, staff, and vendors.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, with a focus on professionalism, patience, and problem resolution.
- Experience or familiarity with Supply Chain Management and Procurement processes for transportation or facilities support.
- Ability to manage Purchasing activities, including creating and tracking purchase orders, invoices, and vendor records.
- Proficiency with office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, databases) and ability to learn transportation or routing systems.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in business, logistics, or administration is a plus.
- Prior experience in a school district, transportation, or administrative support setting is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
