Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia, is now accepting applications for a Cybersecurity Analyst position that is available in the division.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for protecting Montgomery County Public Schools’ technology systems, networks, and data from cybersecurity threats. This position supports the instructional and operational mission of the school division by ensuring a secure, reliable digital environment for students, teachers, and staff.
The Cybersecurity Analyst performs advanced technical and analytical work, including monitoring systems, identifying vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, and implementing security measures across district infrastructure. The position also assists in the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in cybersecurity, incident response, or IT security
- Experience with network security tools (firewalls, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS)
- Experience with Microsoft/Office 365 security environments
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and vulnerability assessment
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
- Possess adequate written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and successfully manage/execute many projects or daily tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Ability to work and communicate in a team environment
- Ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task, work with interruptions, and work under pressure
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a K–12 or public education environment
- Five (5) years of IT or cybersecurity experience
- Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Security )
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) and cloud security
- Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable)
- Scripting or programming experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
- Experience supporting compliance with FERPA, COPPA, and CIPA
SALARY: $54,160.14 - $100,682.65 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
FLSA Status: Non exempt
