Montgomery County Public Schools, Virginia, is looking for an innovative and dedicated leader to serve as Supervisor of Student and School Support. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Supervisor of Student and School Support provides leadership and direction for the coordination of strategies to support positive student behavior, faithful attendance, and student academic success. The Supervisor coordinates, supervises, and monitors related policies, practices, and protocols, and collaborates directly with school-level administrators. 

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The following duties are representative of the position. They are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Coordinate the implementation of school-wide behavior management systems, including PBIS and MTSS
  • Assign and supervise a team of Tiered Intervention Specialists to work directly with schools and students
  • Develop guidelines and expectations for the Student Assistance Programming Teams (SAP Teams) in each school
  • Manage the division’s student attendance program, including any required court action
  • Develop and train division staff on systems that promote a culture and climate of student success
  • Collaborate with Administrator of CTE, Supervisor of School Counseling, and Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education on developing and implementing the Division 4E (Engaged, Enrolled, Employed, Enlisted) program
  • Develop and deliver professional development to stakeholders in the areas of creating positive learning environments and supporting students who are Tier 2 and Tier 3
  • Work in conjunction with school leaders and departments to ensure the implementation of equitable practices and access to improve outcomes for all students
  • Analyze, evaluate, and report division-wide student data for students requiring additional academic, behavioral, or social-emotional support
  • Assist schools in developing data tracking and analysis processes to inform targeted student supports
  • Work with school leaders to track and report discipline data and provide preventative interventions
  • Model and share knowledge of successful strategies for working with students who are Tier 2 and Tier 3
  • Possess working knowledge of appropriate strategies for reducing behaviors that put students at risk of not graduating from high school
  • Possess an understanding of the multiplicity of social services available in the community to support students
  • Assist school teams in creating and facilitating interventions for students
  • Through coaching and modeling, support school-based staff in building their capacity to implement positive culture and climate practices
  • Engage and communicate with school stakeholders (parents, students, staff, etc.) regarding culture and climate interventions and initiatives
  • Proactively work with building-level administration to reduce disproportionality of student groups in the areas of behavior and achievement
  • Regularly meet with building principals to ensure positive behavioral supports are in place and being effective with our at-risk students
  • Be available to guide and assist school-level leaders in the development and monitoring of Functional Behavioral Analyses, Behavior Intervention Plans, and other similar intervention plans
  • Collaborate directly with school-level administrators to facilitate the successful transition of students from elementary, middle, and high school by identifying students and programs in need of additional support and intervention to provide resources/services needed to achieve success
  • Coordinate with division alternative programs to ensure student progress
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision, PreK-12
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Possess superlative leadership abilities
  • Have three years of classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exhibit an ability to analyze and interpret data and use problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively give presentations before large groups of people
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
  • Demonstrate ability to multitask, work with interruptions, and work under pressure
  • Demonstrate ability to be dependable, punctual, and complete tasks without direct supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have three years of building administrator or central office leadership experience
  • Possess training and experience in mentoring and coaching school administrators
  • Have experience in successfully implementing school-wide programs
  • Display a proven track record of improving student achievement and outcomes

 

SALARY:  $92,560.00 - $162,304.52 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience 

 

FLSA:   Exempt

MCPS is currently the only school division in Southwest Virginia with a collective bargaining agreement.
