Summary

This person maintains active and retired members’ files, consults with terminating employees re: options available, and prepares checks for new retirees, and active and retired deaths

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintains liaison with the Treasurer’s Office, Human Resources Department and Payroll.
  • Answers the Retirement Office telephone and emails, handles retirement office correspondence.
  • Answer retirees’ questions and concerns, if appropriate refers them to the manager.
  • Responsible for manual check production & distribution.
  • Coordinates pension refunds & death benefits distributions.
  • Responsible for vesting correspondence & paperwork,
  • Responsible for collection of information on new hires and their enrollment into the pension system.
  • Responsible mail distribution & maintain files.
  • Maintain high confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • High School graduate, college preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of office support experience.
  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of the rules and procedures governing the county’s pension plan.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Team player.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Ability and desire to learn the Pension Administration System ( A user friendly Database system).

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
