We strategically plan, maintain, acquire, and dispose of county fleet vehicles and equipment, providing the highest level of cost effective and efficient fleet operations, ensuring transparency and accountability through a dedicated, highly trained, and certified fleet staff.
What You'll Be Doing
- Plans, schedules, coordinates and monitors building maintenance and repairs, including bus service lanes, parking lots, security lighting/alarm systems and office/storage space at multiple locations.
- Plans, schedules, coordinates and monitors facility equipment maintenance, including vehicle lifts, engine hoists, air compressors and other industrial equipment used in the maintenance and repair of cars, trucks, buses and heavy equipment powered by gas, diesel or alternative fuels.
- Coordinates and monitors construction, renovations, structural and grounds maintenance, lighting, signage, pump safety/security and repairs at multiple Fleet Management sites.
- Monitors contract crews providing pest control and custodial services, assigning them specific jobs and responsibilities to fully and timely address the needs and concerns of the facility user(s).
- Plans office space renovations and locations in coordination with the space occupants, user agency management and support services personnel. Identifies and coordinates logistics and phasing issues. Monitors the work of County employees or contractors moving office furniture and equipment and renovating the space.
The Division of Fleet Management Services is a 24/7 operation and has three main worksite locations (Rockville, Silver Spring and Kensington), along with multiple depots and fuel sites. The employee will be required to work at all locations and may include nights and weekends.
The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee. Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: Five (5) years of experience at the journey or directly supporting staff level in the industrial functions supported two (2) years of which must include experience in maintenance management.
- Education: Graduation from high school or a high school certificate of completion recognized by the state of Maryland.
- Equivalency: none.
- Physical ability: Ability to move objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds.
- Licensure: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class “C” (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant’s state of residence.
Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences
- Experience managing industrial fleet facilities, including maintenance, repairs and renovations
- Experience handling maintenance work orders, maintenance and inspection system and logs
- Experience working with contractors and property managers for maintenance projects
- Experience handling HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, lighting repairs and contractors
