Position Overview
Advanced level in the sewer and water line servicing occupation requiring thorough knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods and procedures used in sewer and water line servicing and maintenance. Under general direction, leads and assists crew in the installation, maintenance and repair of County sewer and water lines; operates equipment for the maintenance of the systems.
Summary Of Job Duties
Operates equipment such as combination vacuum/high pressure sewer cleaning trucks, hydro excavation machines, sewer cleaning easement machine, crane style truck, sewer rodder, golf cart, ATV utility vehicle, various style loaders, various size dump trucks, and various loaders with associated attachments for operations associated with construction and maintenance of water and sewer assets.
Utilizes hydraulic tools, water loss, smoke/dye, and acoustic data gathering equipment, air hammer, tapping/valve insertion machines, powered hand tools and other related equipment.
Sets up work plans, assigns daily tasks to crew; leads and participates with work crews in the installation, maintenance, or replacement of water or sewer lines and components; provides technical assistance as necessary, ensures on-site safety of crew and general public. Restores pavement, concrete, manholes, and lawns to original condition.
Responds to and investigates restoration work and on-site customer complaints, resolves problems or recommends corrective measures; prepares and maintains daily electronic records and reports; performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment; requests servicing or repairs of equipment when needed; completes inspection and inventory documentation for equipment and materials; communicates and coordinates work-related activities with external agencies.

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements
Minimum Class Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of experience in sewer or water systems construction, operation and routine maintenance of same; OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the minimum class requirements.
Driving Requirement
Must have a current, valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with tanker endorsements; must pass Department of Transportation physical exam. Must be an active registrant with the FMCSA clearinghouse as a licensed CDL driver.
Training & Development Required
Must obtain a Backflow Prevention certificate within one (1) year of hire. Must obtain Ohio Class I Wastewater Collection license or Class I Water Distribution license within eighteen (18) months of hire. Must maintain certification and licensure.
All Montgomery County employees become members of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and have access to deferred compensation programs.

Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees and can use their vacation after completion of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status. Part-time Seasonal employees (scheduled to work less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.
Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
