Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technicians to join our behavioral health team. Required Education & Experience:
Clinical Bachelor's degree (Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, C.J., Social Work, etc) or High School Diploma / GED plus twelve (12) behavioral health college credits & two (2) years of mental health direct care experience in the field.
Responsibilities
- Monitor psychiatric patients continuously, observing behavioral changes and reporting significant findings to clinical staff.
- Assist in implementing behavior management plans and behavioral interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living and engagement.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Apply physical restraint techniques when necessary, following established Handle with Care safety protocols to prevent injury.
- Support psychiatric hospital operations by participating in patient rounds, ensuring adherence to treatment plans, and completing patient vitals.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to promote optimal psychiatric care and behavioral health outcomes.
Skills
- Proven experience working in acute care or psychiatric hospital settings with individuals experiencing mental health or co-occurring challenges.
- Strong background in behavior management, crisis prevention, and de-escalation techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to psychiatric care and patient monitoring procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or substance use disorders is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with verbal & physical restraint techniques from Handle with care is a huge plus!
- Excellent client communication skills coupled with compassionate patient interaction abilities.
- Prior experience in behavioral health hospitals, LTSR or crisis centers is advantageous for this role.

Hourly Range: $18/hr - $21/hr - commensurate with education & experience.
