The Montgomery County Attorney’s Office serves as the general counsel for Montgomery County, representing the County, its elected officials, and employees—including law enforcement officers—in civil litigation in both state and federal courts. The Juvenile Section is responsible for prosecuting all felony offenses and Class A and B misdemeanor offenses committed by children ten (10) years of age or older and under the age of seventeen (17).
Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an Assistant County Attorney to join our Juvenile Section. In this role, the Assistant County Attorney will work closely with experienced attorneys and support staff, representing the State of Texas in juvenile matters, including trials and hearings. The primary responsibility will be managing specific cases and contributing to a dynamic legal team.
Qualifications
Applicants must currently be licensed to practice law in Texas and be a member in good standing of the State Bar. The ideal candidate should have strong writing, research, organizational, and communication skills. Experience in prosecutorial handling felonies and misdemeanors is preferred, but not essential. Specific juvenile experience is preferable, but a willingness to learn the unique aspects of juvenile prosecution is sufficient.
