Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Kentucky certification as administrator
2. Superintendent certification preferred
3. Three years successful performance as school and/or district administrator
4. Knowledge and expertise in current educational research findings and recent trends in
education
5. Knowledge and proven expertise in assessment literacy, balanced assessment, and classroom
assessment for student learning
6. Proven ability to communicate knowledge effectively to others
7. Proven ability to develop administrators and certified and classified staff professionally
through effective professional development and coaching strategies
8. Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with administrators,
teachers, staff, parents, families, and community partners
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversees all schools and other such programs and staff members as the Superintendent may
designate
2. Assists school personnel by providing leadership, clarity and focus that upholds the mission
and vision of each school and the district
3. Provides leadership for implementation of district-wide instructional programs
4. Assumes responsibility and oversees principals and staff in schools and programs with
students as assigned by the superintendent
5. Helps implement and resolve issues and concerns arising from situations impacting
student(s), parent(s) and/or the community
6. Successfully manages all assigned budgets and adheres to federal, state, and local regulations
including the Accounting Procedures for School Activity Funds (Redbook), while
maintaining the focus on student learning
7. Supervises and evaluates all staff assigned by the superintendent/designee in accordance with
the approved certified and classified Evaluation plans
8. Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum, instruction, assessment and evaluation
9. Consults with School Based Decision Making (SBDM) teams and oversees adherence to all
statures, regulations, policies, procedures, bylaws, and guidelines
10. Recommends refinement, adoption, and elimination of curriculum, instructional materials,
assessments, methods, and programs in consultation with SBDM and other decision makers
11. Works closely with school personnel, other directors, and coordinators to oversee district and
school assessment
12. Participates in appropriate local, state and national professional meetings and as directed by
the superintendent/designee
13. Coordinates and directs efforts of all staff in improving curriculum instruction, and
assessment
14. Directs and coordinates school guidance counseling programs and student supports
throughout the school district
15. Collaborates with members of the leadership team to determine appropriate uses of federal,
state, and local funding
16. Assists with successful implementation of state evaluation program for teachers,
administrators, and other professional certified staff
17. Plans, collaborates, and coordinates efforts with other district administrators
18. Assists Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Chief Academic Officer to coordinate
and direct efforts of the district and schools in improvement efforts
19. Oversees programs including Extended School Services, Professional Development,
Gifted/Talented Instruction, Perkins, Technology Prep, alternative school, and College &
Career Readiness in collaboration with the Chief Academic Officer and others
20. Performs any other such duties assigned by the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and
Chief Academic Officer
