What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foreman position at Montezuma County?
Summary:
This is a working Foreman position. Each District Foreman shall work alongside his crew to complete the tasks as assigned. With the coordination of the Road and Bridge Superintendent, the Foreman is responsible for planning and implementing all daily work performed in his assigned district. The Foreman will be on call 24 hrs per day, 7 days a week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A District Foreman will inspect all roads in the assigned district as well as the other districts as the need arises. In conjunction with the Road and Bridge Superintendent, it is the Foreman's responsibility to adapt or change course from their scheduled work to make any adjustments or repairs needed to ensure safe travel for the county residents.
The Foreman will meet with Contractors and Utility Companies to ensure that County Road Standards and Specifications are being followed and inspect all work being conducted in the County Road Right of Way.
During the winter months, the Foreman will check for snow or ice on the roads and make the necessary decisions to call in the crew as needed to clear the roads.
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Experience with all types of heavy equipment and large trucks.
Language Ability: English
Math Ability: Basic math skills and have the knowledge to calculate road and drainage grades.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to make the necessary decisions to protect the County, the employee's and its citizens. This would include working safely in live traffic, which roads to remove snow from first, and assigning work tasks that fit the crew's skills and abilities.
Computer Skills: Basic
Certificates and Licenses: Current CDL License and First Aid / CPR Certifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Will supervise multiple employees and up to 200 miles of county road. The Foreman will be responsible for the crew starting work promptly at the beginning of the shift and finishing on time at the end of the shift. A District Foreman will take every precaution to ensure the safety of the crew and the public at all times. The Foreman will also make sure that the employees are wearing the proper personal protective equipment and have identified the hazards that may arise in the assigned work area before beginning the task.
