What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Assistant Teachers position at Montessori Schoolhouse of Cheshire County, Inc.?
Assistant Teacher opening in our toddler classroom and in our preschool classroom (full-time). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Montessori Lead Teacher with daily preparation and tidiness of the classroom; supervision of children ages 16mos-3 years old or 3-6 years old; child diapering & bathroom assistance; outdoor activities in various weather; regular walks pushing wagons/strollers; and various classroom activities . Candidates must be able to pass a background check; meet qualification requirements; be knowledgeable or willing to learn more about Montessori teaching methods and philosophy; and complete a series of Health & Safety webinars within 90 days.
Position Hours: Full-time
Qualification Requirements: Must have a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised child care experience in a child care program AND knowledge of child growth and development obtained through:
- A 3-credit college course in child or human growth and development;
- A high school level 2-year vocational career course in teacher education;
- 30 hours of CEU's in child growth and development granted by an accredited college or university or a provider of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training; or
- Minimum of 2 years documented life experience with same age children such as family childcare provider, work as school teacher, camp counselor, or group leader in other similar activity for children same age.
