The Montessori School of Pawleys Island (MSPI) is a non-profit day school offering a complete Montessori Education for children 8 weeks to 6 years using a unique method of teaching developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori, which grew out of 50 years of observing how children best learn.
The Director of MSPI is a collaborative leader who oversees all aspects of daily school operations and serves as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors, staff, parents, and the community. This role requires a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and the ability to foster an environment that supports each child’s growth and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day school operations and ensure compliance with all state and Montessori standards.
- Partner with the Board on long-range planning and continuous improvement.
- Manage staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Oversee budgeting, financial management, and grant/fundraising initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with families and the community to promote MSPI’s mission.
- Maintain school accreditation and licensing requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
- Montessori certification or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
- 3–5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a Montessori environment.
- Prior experience in school leadership or management.
