What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floater and After School Teacher position at Montessori School of Northampton?
The Montessori School of Northampton is looking for a break coverage and after school teacher who has experience with early childhood education, has an EEC teacher or lead teacher preschool certificate and is available to work everyday from 12-5:15pm.
Floater Teacher Responsibilities
The floater teacher covers classroom teacher breaks and steps into other areas as needed.
After School Teacher Responsibilities
The after School teacher will work in the Children's House After School Program (2:30-5). As the after school teacher, you will be part of a teaching team. You will work closely with your team to cultivate Montessori teaching and methodology, including fostering loving kindness, grace, and courtesy. Candidates should possess effective cooperation and camaraderie within a team and be able to effectively communicate with parents. Knowledge of Montessori education is a preferred qualification for this position, but Montessori training is not required.
A successful candidate must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree or be in a Bachelor's degree program
- Interest in and knowledge of Montessori education
- Interest or a concentration in early childhood education
- Effective communication skills-both written and spoken; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; flexibility, warmth, and sense of humor.
Highly preferred qualifications:
- Massachusetts EEC toddler teacher certification or working toward certification
- Experience teaching young children (18 months-4 years old)
Training opportunities for EEC certification available and encouraged.
