Montessori Children’s Academy (MCA) is seeking a reliable, flexible, and team-oriented Montessori Assistant Teacher to support our 2–3 year old classroom. This role is ideal for an educator who values collaboration, consistency, and relationship-based work with young children — and who is seeking a teaching home, not a short-term position.
MCA serves children from infancy through early childhood in a respectful, outdoor-forward Montessori environment. We are a full-day, year-round program, and strong communication, adaptability, and shared responsibility are essential to our success.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Eligibility under Illinois DCFS employment requirements
- Montessori classroom experience or strong interest in Montessori philosophy
- A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
- Flexibility to support coverage needs across Infant/Toddler classrooms when necessary
- Comfort working outdoors daily in all seasons
- Positive energy, professionalism, and a willingness to grow with a team
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support & Child Care
- Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a calm, prepared Montessori environment
- Prioritize children’s safety, care, and developmental needs at all times
- Assist children with routines, transitions, and work choices while fostering independence
- Provide attentive supervision indoors and outdoors, including daily outdoor time
- Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and steady presence in a dynamic classroom.
Teamwork & Flexibility
- Shift between classrooms when coverage is needed
- Communicate proactively with Lead Teachers and administration
- Participate fully in shared classroom responsibilities with a “pitch-in” mindset
Professional Conduct
- Model grace, courtesy, and respect with children, families, and colleagues
- Follow DCFS licensing standards and school policies
- Participate in onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development
