Montessori School Custodian

Position Overview: We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Custodian to join our Montessori school community. As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment for our students, staff, and visitors. Your attention to detail and commitment to providing a hygienic and organized space will contribute significantly to the overall learning experience of the children in our school.

Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and Sanitizing: Perform daily cleaning tasks to ensure all areas of the school premises are clean, includingooms, play areas, restrooms, offices, and common areas. Use appropriate cleaning agents and techniques to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
• Floor Maintenance: Regularly sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to keep them clean and safe. Pay attention to spills and hazards that may need immediate attention.
• Waste Management: Empty and properly dispose of trash bins and recycling containers throughout the school. Adhere to waste management guidelines and promote environmentally friendly practices.
• Classroom Setup: Assist in setting up and organizingooms before and after school hours, ensuring furniture and materials are arranged appropriately.
• Outdoor Areas: Maintain outdoor play areas and pathways by keeping them clean and free of debris. Address any potential safety hazards promptly.
• Repairs and Maintenance: Report maintenance issues and repair needs to the appropriate authority. Assist in minor repairs when necessary or as directed.
• Safety Checks: Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards and address them proactively. Report any safety concerns to the management.
• Restocking Supplies: Monitor inventory levels and ensure an adequate supply of cleaning materials, toiletries, and other necessary items.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to understand specific cleaning needs and schedules.
• School Events Support: Provide assistance during school events, meetings, and special activities to ensure the premises are well-prepared and clean.
• Security: Monitor and control access to the building to maintain a secure environment. Report any suspicious activities promptly.
• Adherence to Regulations: Follow health and safety regulations and guidelines set by the school and local authorities.
• Communication: Interact respectfully and professionally with students, staff, and visitors, contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
• Emergency Response: Familiarize yourself with emergency protocols and be prepared to act swiftly and calmly in case of accidents or incidents.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in custodial or janitorial work is preferred.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and guidelines.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and bending.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• Passion for maintaining a clean and nurturing environment for children.
