Montessori Lower Elementary Teacher (Ages 6–9)
Full-Time | Montessori Children’s House, West Des Moines, IA
About the Role We’re seeking a caring, collaborative Montessori Lower Elementary Teacher to guide a mixed-age classroom. The ideal candidate is passionate about Montessori philosophy, committed to nurturing independence, and excited to support each child’s academic and social growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Montessori Lower Elementary curriculum (Math, Language, Geometry, Biology, Geography, History, Practical Life)
- Present lessons with clarity and respect for each child’s readiness
- Foster independence, curiosity, and positive community habits
- Maintain an organized, inviting prepared environment
- Observe students to plan lessons and support development
- Communicate thoughtfully with families
- Collaborating with teaching partner and participate in school events
Qualifications
- Montessori Lower Elementary certification (AMS, AMI, or MACTE) required or in progress
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Montessori classroom experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and a growth mindset
- Ability to create a calm, joyful, structured learning environment
