Assistant Teacher

Job Title: Assistant Teacher

Hours: Monday – Friday, 11:30am – 1:00pm; 2:30 - 6:00 p.m.

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team starting in August 2025. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for overseeing the children during lunchtime and the After School program, implementing engaging educational activities for students in a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a strong desire to make a positive impact on their lives.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement appropriate indoor activities for students
• Oversee lunchtime in accordance with Montessori principles, read to the children, facilitate their activities
• Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times, both indoors and outdoors on the playground
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective program

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; High School diploma required, Montessori experience a plus
• Experience working with children in a classroom or daycare setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to implement engaging and educational activities
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for working with children and making a positive impact on their lives
• Child care clearances, including Child Abuse, Fingerprinting report, Criminal Background check, and CPR/First Aid certification required
• Two letters of references required

Physical Demands:

• Audible voice and adequate hearing and vision are required in order to supervise the students
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time, including bending, stooping and crouching to interact with young children
• Ability to lift a small child, up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily indoors in a classroom setting or outside at our playground
• May be required to attend special events or programs
• May be exposed to noise and distractions from children and other staff members

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications; benefits include paid time off may include retirement plan.
