Job Summary
The Montessori Academy of Colorado (MAC) is seeking a dedicated and adaptable educator to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Spanish Teacher from April 13th through the end of the 2025-2026 school year (June 5th). This role is critical for ensuring continuity of learning and a successful end-of-year transition for our students across Primary (Kindergarten) through Middle School levels.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement lesson plans to ensure a cohesive learning experience that aligns with the existing curriculum.
- Lead students through final projects, assessments, and cultural units planned for the spring term.
- Quickly pivot teaching styles to meet the developmental needs of kindergartners through 8th graders.
- Maintain the "Prepared Environment": Uphold the order and aesthetic of the Spanish classroom, ensuring materials remain accessible and well-maintained.
- Support the Montessori "work cycle" by guiding students toward self-directed language exploration.
- Provide a consistent, nurturing presence to minimize disruptions caused by the lead teacher's absence.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and language acquisition.
- Complete final progress reports and narrative evaluations for each student to conclude the academic year.
- Attend weekly team meetings and participate in ongoing curriculum development initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Administration in support of the school’s mission and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field; valid teaching certification preferred.
- Proven ability to "step in" to an existing classroom dynamic with professionalism and ease.
- Prior experience in a Montessori setting or a strong willingness to adhere to Montessori guiding principles.
- Commitment to the full duration of the assignment through the last day of school.
