Join us as a Health Aide at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center located in Bonham, TX.
Description: In the area of assignment within the North Texas Veterans Healthcare Systems the Health Aide provides direct and indirect patient care. The position requires the ability to follow directions, determine priorities as they relate to patient care needs, within the scope of a Health Aide, organization skills and observational skills.
Health aides for this assignment will be primarily utilized in Mental Health Services for the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.
Duties include:
· Perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive Health Aide tasks in assisting physicians and other professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program for alcohol and/or drug-dependent patients.
· Orient patients to treatment programs.
· Observe patients for symptoms, behaviors, actions, reactions, indications, and contraindications to treatment.
· Assist in individual or group therapy sessions or in behavior therapy sessions.
· Provide support assistance to patients placed on maintenance therapy.
· Perform rounding of patients every two hours.
· Assist with patient intake and discharge processes.
· Closely monitor patients’ behavior and whereabouts to maintain a safe environment.
· Escort patients throughout facility and ensure structure, supervision, and therapeutic engagement throughout the recovery process.
· Promote harmonious and cooperative working environment in interaction with co-workers and supervisors.
· Follow all facility guidelines and regulations.
· Utilize computer systems for orders accession.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Location and shifts are subject to change, but current needs are as follows:
1st SCHEDULE: Sunday-Thursday 11:30P-8A.
2nd SCHEDULE: Tuesday-Saturday 7:30A-4P and 3:30P-12A.
No call or overtime available. Holiday hours are available and will be scheduled.
Period of Performance: 5-year contract 12/1/2025-11/30/2030. W-2 employment will be considered.
Qualifications:
· Education. High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of study from an accredited college or university, junior college, or similar institution which includes at
least 12 semester hours in such courses as health sciences, nursing, behavioral science, social science, guidance, counseling, teaching, biological sciences or related fields.
· Licensure and certification. Current BLS and/or ACLS required.
· Experience. Minimum 1 year experience in direct patient care performing therapeutic and supportive tasks in assisting physicians and other personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program setting. Other relevant experience must also be included in resumes.
· English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
· Subject to background/security investigation.
· Must pass TB test.
· Complete an online onboarding process.
· Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
· Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
· Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.
