Oncologist

Join us as an Oncology Physician at the Buffalo VA Medical Center located in Buffalo, NY. Perform on-site Oncology Physician services to eligible beneficiaries of the VA Western New York Health Care System (VAWNYHCS). This is a contract assignment with the Department of Veterans Affairs. W-2 and 1099 employment options available:

W-2: Access to full Monterey Medical employee benefits with lower overall pay rate.

1099: Higher overall pay rate in lieu of employee benefits.

Duties include:

·      Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in an inpatient and outpatient clinic setting.

·      Evaluate, triage, and prioritize consults from primary care and other services for outpatient oncology consultations.

·      Obtain medical history, conduct physical examinations, order, evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.

·      Coordinate medical management and care with Primary care providers and other personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.

·      Perform administrative tasks as assigned such as peer review and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations.

·      Provide on-call oncology services as assigned.

Schedule: Part-time (3 days per week) 8A-4P on each assigned day. On-call/ stand-by coverage 17 weeks per calendar year. On-call hours required for all hours outside of normal business hours.

Period of Performance: Up to 5 years total beginning 1/1/2027 through 12/31/2031. Renewals every 12 months.

Qualifications:

·      Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

·      Board Certification. Must be board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Oncology.

·      Licensure. Must have current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia. BLS, ACLS, or equivalent required.

·      Subject to background/security investigation.

·      Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

·      Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.

·      Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

·      Must be authorized to work in the United States.
