Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Principal, the Bilingual Paraeducator performs a variety of duties assisting teachers in the overall support of instructional activities for students who are enrolled in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: Education as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR met a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge or and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children or children/individuals with disabilities Knowledge of: First Aid Universal health precautions Strong English and Spanish oral and written communication skills including spelling, grammar and punctuation Licenses and Certifications: Possession of an appropriate valid California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability First Aid Complete approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintains valid certification CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment Program for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing: Ability to pass the MCOE sign language test within six (6) months of employment Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Spanish by passing the MCOE Spanish Language Competency Test
