Event Production Assistant (Evenings/Weekends)
We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Event Production Assistant to help with outdoor community events featuring local food, art, and live music. The Event Production Assistant will work directly under the Producer, taking direction to ensure all aspects of event setup, operations, and breakdown run smoothly. Professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Producer in all aspects of event setup, execution, and teardown.
- Oversee site setup including signage, tables, lighting, and equipment.
- Greet and direct vendors during load-in and load-out, ensuring efficient flow and compliance with safety and health standards.
- Supervise volunteers and assign tasks as directed by the Producer.
- Serve as the on-site contact for vendors, performers, and security, depending on the event.
- Monitor event flow, music volume, and overall atmosphere; address any issues calmly and professionally.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe event areas throughout the evening.
- Coordinate trash and recycling needs.
- Capture event photos or videos.
- Collect and record vendor payments accurately.
- Follow closing procedures and ensure all equipment and materials are secured post-event.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in event production, management, hospitality, or community programming preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Professionalism and a positive attitude are a must.
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively under the Producer.
- Heavy lifting is required — must be physically able to move tables, stage pieces, and event equipment.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Organized, proactive, and able to stay calm under pressure.
Additional Details
This is a contract position paying $25 per hour. Typical shifts are approximately 8 hours, with evening and weekend availability required. The position currently supports 1-2 events per month, with the potential for additional hours as new events are added throughout the year. Candidates must provide a W9 and invoice for services rendered.
