What are the responsibilities and job description for the Naturalist and Deckhand position at Monterey Bay Whale Watch LLC?
Monterey Bay Whale Watch is located in Monterey, CA - one of the best whale watching capitols in the world. We are looking to hire an experienced, full time Naturalist and Deckhand starting in March and going through our busy season, possibly all year long. We prefer someone who is knowledgable about Monterey Bay wildlife and with previous deckhand and mechanical experience to help with maintenance on all three of our vessels. We are in search for someone flexible who can work both weekdays and weekends, plus holidays. Position starts March 1st. THIS POSITION IS A COMBINED NATURALIST/DECKHAND POSITION. Compensation rates based on experience.
Must be-
- friendly & respectful
- great personality and people skills is a must
- knowledgable about Monterey Bay wildlife
- willingness to work hard and long hours
- able to pass pre-employment & random drug screen for USCG at any given time
- open to a variety of different hours as we do offer multiple trips
- able & willing to learn the way a skipper wants things run on his vessel
- clean the vessel throughout the day and at the end of shift
- prepare the vessel before it departs
- assist in maintaining the vessels
- customer service orientated
- basic knowledge of the ocean and various species
- ability to do basic boatwork - painting, cleaning, etc.
- must have means of transportation, possibly up to 30 miles from Monterey, CA
