7.5 HOURSMontefiore Health System is seeking an experienced, Pharmacist leader to serve as Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing - Pharmacy, a critical enterprise role overseeing the largest and complex drug spend portfolios in the region.
This position is responsible for leading system-wide pharmacy sourcing and contracting strategy across Montefiore's academic medical centers, hospitals, ambulatory sites, and specialty pharmacy operations.
As Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing - Pharmacy, you will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of pharmacy contracting and sourcing strategies for $800M in annual drug spend, balancing financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and clinical alignment.
This is a senior, high-impact role for a licensed pharmacist with deep experience in pharmacy contracting, 340B, distribution, and academic medical center operations. The individual in this role will serve as a trusted advisor to Chief Pharmacy Officers and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise-wide pharmacy sourcing and contracting strategy, including GPO and direct manufacturer negotiations
- Manage contracting and sourcing across inpatient, ambulatory, specialty, and contract pharmacy environments
- Drive savings initiatives, formulary standardization, and contract compliance in partnership with Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) and clinical leaders
- Serve as system subject matter expert for 340B, regulatory compliance, audits, and pharmacy supply chain risk management
- Partner closely with Pharmacy, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Supply Chain leadership
- Oversee pharmacy distribution relationships and inventory strategies, ensuring supply continuity and regulatory adherence
- Support initiatives related to specialty pharmacy growth, technology implementation, and process improvement
- Lead and mentor a small, high-performing team; establish KPIs and governance standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Pharmacist (PharmD or RPh acceptable with substantial senior experience)
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in pharmacy sourcing, contracting, or supply chain within a large academic medical center or integrated health system
- Deep expertise in:
- Pharmacy contracting & negotiations
- 340B program management
- GPO utilization and vendor management
- Drug distribution and inventory management
- Demonstrated ability to operate at scale with complex stakeholder environments
- Proven executive presence and ability to partner with senior clinical and administrative leaders
- Experience managing large volume pharmacy spend
- MBA, MHA, or other advanced business degree (preferred)
- Experience leading enterprise initiatives across acute and ambulatory care settings
