Join the Montefiore School Health Program as an LPN with an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS), supporting student health in a dynamic school-based setting. This role focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, and urgent clinical needs. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote wellness in underserved communities. As a vital member of our interdisciplinary school health team, you will contribute to nursing standards of practice while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care:
Required:
Shift: Monday to Friday 0800A - 0330P
Alternate Work Schedule:
Enjoy 6 weeks off in the summer! This position operates from September through June while school is in session, with prorated compensation to match the academic calendar.
Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.

Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our interdisciplinary school health team, you will contribute to nursing standards of practice while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care:
- Direct Patient Care: Provide direct clinical care to a pediatric and adolescent student population under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Clinical Tasks: Safely administer medications, treatments, and procedures within the LPN scope of practice; collect specimens and perform selected diagnostic tests (including venipuncture).
- Student & Family Education: Deliver clear patient/family teaching and discharge instructions tailored to the student's developmental and cultural needs.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control, safety, and disaster policies; document all care, interventions, and observations accurately in the electronic health record.
- Collaboration & Flexibility: Partner with RNs and school staff to resolve patient care issues, manage competing demands, and adapt smoothly to the changing daily workflow of a school environment.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED minimum
- Current New York State LPN License & Registration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Infection Control Certificate
- Effective written, oral, and interpersonal English communication skills
- Basic data entry and computer retrieval skills
- Must complete fingerprinting for Department of Education (DOE) and Justice Center Security Clearance
- Occupational Health Services (OHS) Annual Assessment & Fit Test
