1. Knowledgeable in billing databases: Epic, EPF, Availity, Connex, ePaces, Evicore, and various insurance plan websites/portals/clearinghouses for information.

2. Working knowledge of industry specific language and documents such as payer contracts, explanation of benefits(EOBs), 835 formatting and claim adjustment reason codes(CARC).

3. Review posted charges for coding accuracy prior they are being released from Epic.

4. Review medical records and ensure that charges are coded according to insurance guidelines

5. Knowledgeable in interpreting data and reports related to billing, collections, productivity that will support actions/change to achieve desired results.

6. Ensure payments, denials and/or correspondence is posted in a timely manner, typically within three business days of receipt, to include live checks, EFT payments, credit card payments and cash payments

7. Basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and calculating percentages.

8. Assists with end of day procedures including updating the department Excel spreadsheets and balancing, as needed.

9. Balance posted transactions to actual bank deposits using internal controls

10. Knowledgeable in the use of calculators, fax, printer/scanner/copy machines. 11. Ability to understand and apply workflows and job aids as indicated.

12. Knowledge and application of HIPAA and security laws.

13. Accurately post payments and adjustments of EOB’s (Explanation of Benefits), received via paper or electronically into Epic

14. Knowledge of ethical billing practices.

15. Any additional duties as assigned.
