The restaurant will focus on being a casual, community-driven space focusing on produce sourced from Rincon Hill Farm, as well as Central California Coast’s bounty of produce, seafood, and protein. The menu will be farm-driven and fun, balancing comfort and creativity through highlighting seasonal ingredients, bold flavors, and an unfussy approach to cooking.
Bartenders are responsible for all aspects of the guest experience at the bar, including greetings, menu sales, bar maintenance and development, overall guest satisfaction and happiness, fond farewells and maintain a general command of the food and beverage menu.
You will work to prepare, mix, and serve consistently excellent beverages to guests either directly at the bar or through serving staff; provide impeccable hospitality to each of our guests, working specifically with each individual need to curate the best experience possible.
Key Responsibilities
Service
- Maintains warmth and hospitality in all correspondence with guests
- Complete opening and closing side work checklist for shift daily
- Help guests to make selections from food and beverage menus, suggest courses and pairings, explain any off-menu dishes, answer all food preparation questions
- Take orders from guests, ensuring 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes
- Check identification of all customers who appear under 30 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them
- Communicate with the kitchen to manage timing of courses, any guest feedback, etc.
- Deal with guest complaints by finding a way to say yes; involve the manager on duty as needed
- Process guest payments in timely, accurate manner
- Process financials on shift-by-shift basis, including submitting accurate cash sales
- Accurately report cash and credit card tips and contribute to tip pool as applicable
- Maintain sanitation to DOH standards; Keep work area clean and organized
- Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
- Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
- Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
- Complete other duties as assigned by management
- Communicate all necessary guest information with the team to set everyone up for success (allergy alerts, VIPs, special requests, celebrations, etc.)
Menu Knowledge
- Maintain an understanding of Monte's food menu and have the ability to clearly describe our offerings
- Have a grasp of Monte's beverage program and be able to summarize our philosophy and identify our different offerings
- Understand different types of allergy restrictions and help communicate potential issues to floor and kitchen staff
Station Set Up
- Set up the bar; fill wells with ice, prepare fruit trays, restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices; stock trash cans and towels, etc.
- Set-up garnishes following OWS standards
Brand
- Understand and communicate Monte's values and brand philosophy to customers and staff and set the tone for a positive work environment
- Promote the Monte's vision while establishing us as an innovator within our industry
- Actively involved in Monte's publicity opportunities and community outreach
- Walks the talk with who we are and what we stand for internally and externally

- Minimum 1 yrs of bartending experience in a restaurant
- TIPS certification preferred
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs
- Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and POS systems
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions when working under stress, in fast-paced environments
