Before and After Care (Extended Day) Educator

Extended Day Educator - 2026-2027 School Year

Part-time, 10 Months

Monday – Friday,

6:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

2:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.;

Occasionally, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Positions are dependent upon enrollment.

Location: Sites in Montclair, Glen Ridge, and Orange

Several positions are available and will begin in the Fall of 2026.

Ensures a seamless transition from the regular school day to the extended day program. Working in collaboration with the education service area, the Extended Day Educator(EDE) implements learning activities that support children participating in the extended day program's cognitive, social, and emotional development. The EDE will ensure children are safe and will engage children in various areas, including literacy, math, arts, science, and recreation.

Qualifications:

Must have a High School diploma or GED; CDA or a degree in early childhood education is preferred:

A minimum of two years of work experience teaching or assisting a teacher in a preschool class or working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-5).

Proficiency in written and verbal English language skills;

Basic skills in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;

Ability to lift to 35 lbs. occasionally.

Ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, and run.

Montclair Child Development Center began providing services in 1968 and was incorporated in 1969. We own and operate three (3) child care centers: Township of Montclair, Borough of Glen Ridge, and City of Orange Township. MCDC is a non-profit corporation that receives funding from Federal, State, County, and local agencies to operate various social service programs and provide comprehensive preschool services to low-income children and families residing in the communities of Montclair, Belleville, Bloomfield, Orange, and West Orange.
