MAINTENACE DEPARTMENT
Full-time $17.54 - $21.78 per hour
General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Building and Grounds Supervisor, performs all of the duties of maintenance and repair tasks such as repairing and replacing plumbing fixtures, performing preventative maintenance on heating and cooling systems, performing roofing repairs, painting, and related tasks. Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing grass and removing snow.
Employment Qualifications
Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience: One year of prior buildings and grounds maintenance experience.
Other Requirements: Possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s License.

- Walking over uneven terrain to maintain lawns and grounds and remove snow.
- Walking throughout all areas of various County buildings.
- Squatting, stooping, kneeling to maintain and repair facilities and equipment.
- Bending, stooping, and crouching to clean various fixtures.
- Climbing ladders to replace light bulbs and clean walls and ceilings.
- Climbing into trucks and onto other equipment.
- Operating trucks with snow removal equipment and to haul equipment.
- Ability to drive to various County locations.
- Lifting ability to remove snow and remove and replace parts on building mechanical systems.
- Ability to lift, push and pull office furniture.
- Ability to lift bags of trash weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to operate steam cleaner and vacuum.
- Ability to reach and clean all areas of buildings and fixtures.
Working Conditions:
- Works outside in varying weather conditions.
- Works in all areas of County buildings and properties.
- Works in cramped body positions to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Exposure to equipment where risk exists of getting burned, bruised, or scraped.
- Exposure to environmental allergens such as grass, weeds, and pollens.
- Contact with oil and petroleum products.
- Exposure to solvents, degreasers, pesticides, and herbicides.
- Exposure to gases and fumes.
- Works in cramped positions to perform some cleaning tasks.
- Exposure to various chemical cleaning products.
