Role Description Summer TRIO Upward Bound Team Leaders provide daily guidance, supervision, and support to high school participants enrolled in the Upward Bound summer program. This full-time, on-site role in Butte, MT involves mentoring students in academic, social, and personal development, and assisting with the implementation of enrichment activities, workshops, and study sessions. Team Leaders help facilitate residential life routines, including check-ins, group meetings, and evening activities, while modeling professional and respectful behavior. The position includes close collaboration with TRIO Upward Bound staff and instructors to monitor student progress, maintain a safe and inclusive environment, and enforce program policies. Team Leaders also complete required documentation, communicate regularly with program staff about student needs, and participate in training, debriefings, and wrap-up activities at the end of the summer session.

Qualifications

- Experience facilitating group activities, workshops, or academic support sessions, with the capacity to engage students in structured and informal learning environments.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including managing schedules, documenting student participation, and following established procedures.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and respect for participants from first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, ensure safety, and respond calmly to emergencies or unexpected situations.
