Position Overview
Position Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt (Full-Time, Part-Time, or Seasonal)
Reports To: Store Manager and Shift Leaders
The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for profitably selling merchandise and delivering an exceptional in-store experience to Montana Supply customers.

Primary Duties
The responsibilities of a Retail Sales Associate fall into three main categories:
1. Customer Service (80% of time spent)
- Greet customers professionally and warmly upon entering the store.
- Be familiar with and able to recall store policies, promotions, and events.
- Answer customer inquiries about merchandise, policies, promotions, and more.
- Escalate customer concerns when appropriate.
- Engage customers using active listening and product knowledge.
- Stay current with product releases, floor placement, and inventory levels.
- Operate the cash register efficiently and accurately.
- Utilize trained up-selling techniques.
- Communicate outstanding customer interactions to Supervisors before breaks or end of shifts.
2. Operations (15% of time spent)
- Coordinate with the Store Manager, Shift Leaders, and fellow Associates to manage the sales floor.
- Identify and report any technical or operational issues to the Supervisor.
- Complete Opening, Closing, and Daily Task sheets efficiently.
- Keep the sales floor clean and organized in line with merchandising standards.
- Assist with re-stocking products and any additional delegated tasks.
3. Sales Skills Development (5% of time spent)
- Apply newly learned sales techniques with customers.
- Work through the Lightspeed Retail POS Skills Sheet to improve skills.
Skills and Competencies
Skills
- Some high school education or equivalent.
- Basic technology proficiency (e.g., apps, iPads).
- Perform light janitorial duties.
- Handle cash and minor financial transactions.
- Read, write, and perform basic math.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.

- Strong communication and product presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable speaking with customers.
- Detail-oriented.
- Eager to grow personally and professionally.
Working Relationships
General & Assistant Manager(s)
- Submit time-off requests and scheduling issues.
- Provide two-week notice before ending employment.
- Request training and employment-related information.
- Attend occasional training sessions outside of normal hours.
- Receive company policy updates.
Shift Leaders
- Check in at the beginning of each shift for updates and assignments.
- Receive information on sales, promotions, and events.
- Discuss ongoing customer situations.
- Coordinate break times.
- Communicate any work-related issues or concerns.
Ski Pass Assistance (Full-Time Winter Employees Only)
- Available to first-year full-time associates working 36 hours/week throughout the Big Sky Resort season.
- A $250 deposit is required and reimbursed after the season ends.
Note: If employment ends before the season concludes, the deposit is forfeited.

Salary : $20 - $23
