Brief Position Overview The Montana Ten (MT10) Success Coach supports the overall success of MT10 Scholars serving as a continuous point of contact for students admitted into the MT10 Scholars program at the MSU Billings (MSUB) City College Campus. The MT10 Success Coach will be responsible for ensuring that all pre-admission and matriculation criteria, including but not limited to housing, meal plans, financial aid, account holds, referrals to support offices, student employment, transcripts, dual credit, and technology supports are in place or completed prior to new student orientation. Coaches will onboard and outboard students within the program with the intention of retaining students each semester, through graduation, while supporting the program's desire to create a vibrant and inclusive center.

Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: The MT10 Success Coach will carry a caseload of students whose academic journeys are in a variety of majors, additional support and guidance through the Career & Employment Center will support undeclared students within their first year. The Coach will meet a minim of once a month with their students and support their cohort on a day-to-day basis. With this, the MT10 Success Coach will continue to work closely with and support students through the entirety of their enrollment at MSUB; this support includes but is not limited to: • Reviewing student progress and utilizing community and academic support services • Providing consistent outreach to faculty and other MSUB staff to support student success • Accompanying students to meet with various departments on campus to ensure that any barriers to the students' continuation at MSUB are resolved (i.e., financial aid, business services, mental health services, etc.) • Providing consistent communication with students. • Referring students to campus and community resources as needed to address barriers • Working in team settings to create a wraparound support network for MT10 students • Supporting student transfers within the system • Carrying out best practices in advising and objectives set by the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education • Create a vibrant and inclusive Montana 10 Scholars center where students can study, connect, and meet regular program goals • Collect and document student participation and cohort data monthly The MT10 Success Coach will collaborate closely with academic departments, professional and faculty advisors, the advising center, and primary contacts in academic program. This is to ensure smooth transitions of each student into respective academic departments and majors after initial advising and general education evaluation is complete. This position is also responsible for tracking students' progress and will adhere to the MT10 guidelines and associated best practices in advising. Management and Supervision of Others: MT 10 is a highly collaborative team. No one functions independently as it would be counterproductive to the program. Success Coaches have a high level of skill in terms of communication within the program as they provide mutual support to the program director, student employees, program coordinator, and other program coordinators. Education Required: • Associates degree and at least (3) years of academic advising experience or related experience in a K-12 or higher education setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience required • Knowledge of basic skills in active listening, rapport building and/or individualized student support models • Experience working in team settings and interdisciplinary collaboration Experience Required:• Experienced use of computer software programs, including MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook• 3 years of customer service and data entry experience• Make referrals to campus and community resources as needed• A foundational understanding of the principles of student success coaching• Ability to advise students regarding a myriad of issues from course selection to withdrawals and referrals to additional student support services, financial aid, Student Health Services, counseling, and tutoring• Ability to advise students regarding a myriad of issues from course selection to withdrawals and referrals to additional student support services, financial aid, Student Health Services, counseling, and tutoring
