The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in world literature and multicultural literature with the possibility of teaching other writing and literature courses during the academic year. Opportunities to develop additional courses in the candidate’s specialty area exist. Other expected duties include advising students; service to the department, college, and/or university committees; contributions to the department’s ongoing assessment and curricular needs; and an active research, presentation, and publication agenda. The teaching load for an Assistant Professor at MSUB is 21 credits for the academic year. Summer teaching opportunities are available but are not required.Required Qualifications:PhD in Transnational Literatures, Comparative Literature, Post-Colonial Literature, Global Literatures, Global Anglophone Literatures, or related fieldAppropriate background in the needed area(s) of specializationAbility and interest in undergraduate teachingExperience with and commitment to working with diverse student populationsAbility and willingness to develop and teach sections/courses within multiple modalitiesPreferred Qualifications:Focus on Indigenous literatureAcademic background and teaching experience in composition writingExperience in teaching environmental literature or technicalWriting Experience with program assessmentWillingness to grow the English programSpecial Requirements:Applicants will be reviewed and interviewed on an ongoing basis after the screening date.
