What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Crew Member position at Montana Landscape Maintenance?
WHO WE ARE
Montana Landscape Maintenance takes care of high-end residential properties across the Bitterroot Valley. We’re still a small shop, and that’s intentional. We’re building this the right way, not the fast way. Where we’re headed is clear: we want to be the top large-scale provider of premium landscape maintenance in Western Montana. A big operation that never lets the standard slip. You don’t get that mix by luck, and you don’t get it without the right people. So we’re bringing good people on now, before we’re forced to hire in a hurry.
THE ROLE
You’ll work with a Crew Leader doing lawn and bed maintenance, pruning, road maintenance, and general property care. When winter hits, the work shifts to dormant pruning, detailed plant work that most crews skip or rush through. We don’t. From day one, you’ll be trained to a high standard. The real expectation is learning to hold that standard without being prompted. We call it the landscaper’s eye, and it’s what we’re building into everyone on this crew.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Small crew, high-end clients, and work that has to be done right, every time, or it doesn’t pass. If you’re joining us now, you’re coming in early on something that’s going to grow a lot. And when it does, and it will, the leadership roles, the better routes, and the bigger opportunities go to the people who were here early and showed what they’re made of. That’s how we run. Day one is day one. Still, the ceiling here is high, and it’s real.

Excellence. We won't demand it from you on day one; we'll demand that you learn. Excellence is what that learning is supposed to produce.
Punctuality. This is a team job. If you're late, someone else pays for it. We don't accept that, and honestly, you shouldn't either.
A solutions mindset. Problems come up in the field; that's normal. What we want are people who show up with options, not just complaints. If you bring a problem, bring a possible fix with it.
A drive to find a better way. We're always asking how to do things smarter, cleaner, and with less wasted effort. If you spot a better approach, speak up. That kind of thinking matters here.

COMPENSATION
$18/hour, W-2. Overtime paid. Performance-based bonuses for the people who earn them. No benefits package at this time - that's the honest answer, and we'd rather be straight with you up front than sell you something we're not offering... yet.
