Swiss Lathe Machinist/Programmer

About the Role:

Montana Knife Company is seeking a highly skilled Swiss Lathe Operator to join our team of craftsmen and innovators. This is not an entry-level position — we are looking for an expert-level operator who can confidently program, set up, and operate Swiss-style CNC lathes to produce high-precision knife components and small parts to exacting standards.

Requirements:

• Proven expertise in hand and CAM programming multi-axis parts for 9-axis swiss lathes (Esprit Swiss CAM preferred) 
• Set up and operating Swiss CNC lathes (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, etc.) 
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings 
• Proficiency in G-code and M-codes 
• Strong understanding of tool selection, speeds/feeds, and precision inspection methods 
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience 
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues such as machine leveling, bar feeder alignment, main and sub spindle collet adjustments, guide bushing tuning and general PM 

Preferred but not Required:

• Experience as a CNC mill operator (Brother, Haas, or equivalent) 
• Wire EDM operating experience (knowledge of setup, programming, and finishing)
