Montana Food Equipment is looking for a dependable, mechanically skilled Service Technician to join our growing team in Helena.
We are a Montana-based commercial food-equipment service and sales company serving customers throughout the state. Our technicians work on a wide variety of equipment, including commercial refrigeration, ice machines, ovens, dishwashers, mixers, slicers, steam equipment, cooking equipment, food-preparation equipment, and more.
We support restaurants, grocery stores, hospitals, schools, hotels, institutional kitchens, and other commercial facilities. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and seeing something different every day.
Compensation
- $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience
- Full-time employment
- Pay issued every two weeks
- Overtime and after-hours work paid according to company policy
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain commercial food-service equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, gas, plumbing, and refrigeration systems
- Perform preventive-maintenance inspections
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding equipment problems and repairs
- Complete service documentation accurately and promptly
- Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, and parts inventory
- Participate in manufacturer and technical training
- Work independently while supporting the rest of the service team
- Participate in the rotating on-call schedule
- Travel within the assigned service area as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial refrigeration or HVAC/R experience is strongly preferred
- EPA Section 608 certification is preferred
- Previous commercial food-equipment service experience is a plus
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and equipment manuals
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely lift and move tools, parts, and equipment associated with the position
