The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Learning & Development Consultant. This position provides professional development, implementation, and management of training and development, to support the department’s mission. Administers, manages, develops and delivers training for the MDT Department statewide and provides professional coaching in one-on-one and group settings to aid employee development. Assists in the formulation of strategic workforce planning initiatives, advises management on performance management, and workforce development. This position travels throughout the state to MDT offices to conduct training with employees, which requires frequent overnight trips. This position reports to the Learning & Development Manager and does not supervise others. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities.

The advertised salary includes the $1.00 increase passed by the 2025 MT State Legislature regarding the state pay plan effective July 1, 2026.

Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Human Behavior, Adult Education, Instructional Design, or a related field. OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3 years of related work experience.
- Certification in personality assessments such as Emotional Intelligence, Myers Briggs, Disc, Clifton Strength Finders or coaching certification is preferred.
- Alternative combinations of related experience or education may be considered.
